Interest in the Program
Please describe why you are interested in participating in the DISI Undergraduate Fellowship and how you think this fellowship will help you achieve your goals.
The Diversity and Inclusion Science Initiative (DISI) is interested in broadening our conception and understanding of diversity to include human characteristics seldom considered. As such, the DISI focuses on diversity in characteristics such as race/ethnicity, gender, family structure, sexuality, income, religion, disabilities, language, and politics to name a few, as well as the intersection of these characteristics (e.g., belonging to multiple overlapping, interdependent social categories affecting societal discrimination). Considering this definition, describe how your participation in the DISI Undergraduate Fellowship will bring diversity/inclusion to the program. Open-ended, 200 words.
Research Project Title:
Each fellowship recipient shall identify how they will be involved in their own independent study of diversity and inclusion. Involvement may be an academic involvement (e.g., being a part of ongoing research project, or taking independent study). Research projects should contribute to the ongoing goals of DISI, which include reducing prejudice, stereotyping, and exclusion; and supporting inclusion and social engagement, to promote the wellbeing of children, youth and families. Open-ended, up to 500 words.
